My Last Supper

Time Magazine has a preview of the new photo (food porn) book, My Last Supper. There is a slideshow on Time.com with some highlights. The photos are great, but honestly, none of the meals sound ideal to me. Spider crabs? Pheasant? Marinated anchovies? Perhaps my palette is unsophisticated, but I think I'm more like Gordon Ramsay, who "would prefer a classic roast dinner: roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy." It's the right track, but not what I'd pick. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking: Freshly made guacamole (from perfect avocados) with fresh crisp tortilla chips, hot fried eggplant, Texas-style smokey barbecued brisket, delicate melt-in-your-mouth biscuits with honey butter, maybe some tangy baked beans to go with the brisket or a crisp, vinegary-sweet coleslaw. (It's not that beans or slaw are my very favoritist foods, but brisket is, and I can't be having sides that don't go.)

What would be your last meal?

My grandmother's Southern Thanksgiving dinner: roast turkey, pan dressing, cranberry sauce, green beans, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, cole slaw, dinner rolls, strawberry shortcake. OMG, I'm hungry.
