This is a tiny blossom, one of many on an upright stem. It's no bigger than your pinky fingernail. To me it looks like a little opera singer (see the hands?). It's best viewed large.

101 Things in 1001 Days

I am seriously considering doing this. Make a list of 101 things to accomplish within 1001 days. I got the idea from Daily Guilt, where Melanie Ordorff documents her progress with her list.

I am very proud of my shade garden. A variety of hostas provide different shades of cool green (and white and yellow) and the foliage from the bleeding hearts is lovely and delicate. The big elephant ear hosta in back is a favorite. And the astilbe are just starting to bloom, pink and white.

Evolution

Everyone at Ogilvy is talking about the Dove Evolution film. It won the Grand Prix at Cannes. Honestly, the self-congratulatory back patting is getting tiresome. (The film is playing in the lobby as I type, for example.)

I enjoyed this parody of it. Slob Evolution

The ten most hated words on the Internet

The ten most hated words on the Internet according to an article in Ars Technica are

  • folksonomy
  • blogosphere
  • blog
  • netiquette
  • blook (I had to look it up)
  • webinar
  • vlog
  • social networking
  • cookie
  • wiki

Now I'd like to make a variation of buzzword bingo around this... bring the list to a meeting and count how many times one of the words gets used.

I'd like to expand the list to include phrases used in the Internet business:
  • ideate
  • information scent
  • success drivers (25,900 results on google! I'm not making this up!)
  • bandwidth (referring to people, not, you know, actual bandwidth)
  • iterative (as in "iterative agile releases")

If he did it, here's the book

The manuscript of O.J. Simpson's semi-confessional If I Did It is (allegedly) available online (as all things eventually are).

I can't help myself -- I'm going to read it. Are you? Excerpts can be found here.

Oh, the drama!

I'm going to have to use this in a Powerpoint presentation one of these days:
